Senior Jewish Leader Urges National Reckoning Following Terrorist Act

The UK's leading rabbi has stated that many members within Jewish circles and outside it are asking the reason demonstrations including those challenging the restriction against Palestine Action are permitted to take place.

Chief Rabbi Sir Mirvis commented: “Certain ones contain overt anti-Jewish sentiment, blatant support toward Hamas. Not each person, yet exists so much of these actions, which is obviously risky to many within our community.”

Spiritual guides also hold a specific role to play, Sir Ephraim Mirvis added, adding: “We need to talk concerning managing our mouths, the views we voice, the way we communicate these thoughts and likewise a faith leader ought to foster coexistence and calm across public spaces and in our homes.”

His remarks came as the head of Israel, Isaac Herzog, declared that the recent day represented a “terrible day” for Jews in Britain, the wider UK, and Jewish populations throughout the world.
