President Approves Legislation to Release Further Epstein Records Following Months of Resistance
The President declared on late Wednesday that he had signed the legislation decisively endorsed by US legislators that instructs the justice department to disclose more files concerning Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased pedophile.
This action follows an extended period of opposition from the leader and his backers in the legislature that split his political supporters and caused divisions with various established backers.
Donald Trump had resisted making public the Epstein documents, describing the issue a "fabrication" and criticizing those who attempted to publish the records accessible, despite promising their publication on the election circuit.
Nevertheless he altered his position in the past few days after it become clear the House would approve the legislation. Donald Trump said: "Everything is transparent".
It's not clear what the department will disclose in following the legislation – the legislation specifies a variety of potential items that must be released, but provides exceptions for some materials.

The measure requires the chief law enforcement officer to make unclassified Epstein-connected documents publicly available "available for online access", covering each examination into Epstein, his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, aircraft records and travel records, people mentioned or identified in connection with his crimes, organizations that were connected with his exploitation or economic systems, protection agreements and other plea agreements, official correspondence about charging decisions, evidence of his imprisonment and death, and details about any file deletions.
The justice department will have one month to turn over the files. The legislation includes specific exclusions, including removals of victims' identifying information or personal files, any depictions of child sexual abuse, releases that would endanger current examinations or legal cases and representations of fatality or mistreatment.
