Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Coach Wilder
The striker has signed with Sheffield United just half a year following leading insulting chants targeting their manager, Chris Wilder.
The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a agreement with the Championship club in difficulty until January. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds was ended through agreement this past summer.
Among Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player included starting offensive songs about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations this spring. Currently, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to rescue his beloved club out of the relegation zone.
Previous Conflict Involving Bamford and Wilder
Both men had previous conflict before Leeds won promotion to the top flight last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.
Making Amends and Moving Forward

“We had a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and we had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to give it and accept it and that is part and parcel of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with it and I said that to Pat.”
