An alliance of over seventy religious, legal, and support organizations across the United States has sounded warnings regarding the withholding of $88 million in federal funding earmarked for survivors of human trafficking.

As stated in a collective communication, the US Department of Justice has suspended financial support for in excess of 100 support groups that aid survivors leave abusive situations and access necessary resources including emergency shelter, therapy, and personalized care.
"Letting such resources to be cut would enable human trafficking and threaten lives," the document warns. "Numerous areas will lose their sole assistance organization, abandoning individuals with nowhere to turn for shelter."

The group is asking Congress to compel the executive branch to release the funding to protect countless affected individuals across the country.
This plea follows reports that the administration has scaled down programs to fight modern slavery, though representatives dispute any withdrawal on human rights actions.
