Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
