Discover 29 Latest Game Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)
Everyone's favorite pizza-eating heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known TCG's company, the game's creators, revealed a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical new set or yet another crossover cash grab? Let you decide.
Take a look here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including key background. Everything listed here releases on March 6, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before we get into all the various unique products and collections available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by the developers. Play boosters for the set are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking features. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu ability, in which players can play big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacker goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can affect spells that aren’t creatures too. The designers also used this chance to clean up the ability a bit (It counts as casting, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see Sneak in future sets from now on.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, we might use Ninjutsu because that plane is it originated and it is iconic to that,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and the new ability is what's going to be in standard, it's more likely we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four special cards with unique artwork created exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards outside of your main deck, many players were. But as per Wizards, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.
Anyway, here are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I led the development for 15 months and we knew it would be Standard-legal and which sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a Izzet archetype built around artifacts.
“They combine to offer the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures that can serve as your Commander based on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command area instead of just one). Check them out below:
This Commander precon is priced at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on popularity. Wizards told that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary creatures shown earlier. (Doing some rough math, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the deck comes with 37 lands.)
How will the TMNT version of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)
Typically, the company is selling a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the following:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- 15 Foil land cards
- Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
- Two helper cards
- One Traditional foil promotional card
- 1 Oversized spindown life counter
- One storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- 9 Play Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- 25 Regular pizza lands
- 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Traditional foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- Two Reference cards
- 1 Large spindown life counter
- 1 storage box
For those curious what a “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring all-new TMNT art. Wizards revealed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter sprinkling toppings onto a pizza. There are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.
The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
- 12 Standard Boosters (ideal for four people to play draft)
- 1 Collector Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
- Ninety Regular land cards (to build your draft deck)
- Ten Regular token cards
- 1 Draft insert (a one-sheet guide to drafting the set)
Turtle Team-Up
Finally, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic game products aimed at beginners. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
The concept here that each Boss card grants special abilities to the creatures contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically casts an additional card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
