In a unexpected partnership that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine group.

The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also introduces the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Crossovers

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
